Expansion

The intent to preserve and capture something is very different from the urge to share, but they had become intertwined.

I am very blessed to be in possession of boxes filled with pictures and other memorabilia that belonged to my grandparents, Cliff and Irene Anglin.  Each time I go through the boxes, I uncover a new treasure.  I have been going through the boxes kind of slowly because I realize that once I have gone through all of it, there will be nothing new there to discover.  The boxes had been sitting in my sister's basement for years until not very long ago.  Dawn said she felt uncomfortable going through things that belonged to people who are no longer with us.  For me, they are treasures and connections to their lives and I simply love how it brings me back to another time and place.

Within the large boxes, there are smaller ones filled with photographs, invitations, thank you cards, letters, notes, postcards...  My grandparents' expired drivers licenses are even among the memorabilia.  Mind you, my grandma never drove, but somehow, she had a license.   One of the most unique items in this collection is a photo album that someone made for my grandparents.   If I had to guess, I would say it came from North Carolina.  It is skillfully crafted and decorated with their names.  There are two small brass hinges on the cover and the book is bound with a single leather cord.  The pictures in this book date back to the mid 1940's, yet this book is as solid as the day it was created.

When I started my blog at the invitation of my cousin, the primary focus was to be on the Anglin side of our family.   As I sort through the many photographs, letters, and such, I find there are other stories that are equally important to tell.   In that vein, I am expanding this blog for the additional branches of my family which I believe will bring enjoyment.
